ML00407 - Ettringite
N'Chwaning Mine, Kuruman, Cape Province, South Africa

This exceptionally large ettringite crystal is contrasted by the smaller crystals which make up the matrix. The bottom of the specimen has a druse of tiny hausmannite crystals.

Dipyramidal scheelites are intergrown with a large lollingite crystal spray.  A thin layer of molybdenite coats the bottoms of the scheelites.

This calcite and fluorite is a true floater. The only damage is a cleave on one of the calcite crystals which fortuitously functions as the base.
