While the Gold fields of Quebec are some of the largest in the world, good specimens are relatively uncommon. This 3 cm leaf is actually a mass of small Gold crystals.

Great things come in small packages. This tiny crystal was part of a French collection form the late 1800's. It has an unusual mount including crystallographic drawing, in addition to the specimen location and number, all contained in a tiny glass tube.

This prospect was mined for use as color pigments. A small batch of well formed crystals was found during mining in the 1980s, and this piece was one from that lot.
