TSUMEB!

Announcing the offering of exceptional Tsumeb specimens from the collection of Georg & Christel Gebhard!  I was fortunate to purchase the suite earlier this year, and have teamed up with John Veevaert to market the collection.  To see some fine examples from one of the world's premier mineral localities, follow the link:

Here's a news update regarding the "powellite" specimens I posted from Darwin, California.  After many helpful comments from a few more knowledgeable geologists/mineralogists, I decided to do some analytical work to figure out exactly what we had.  It turns out that the specimens were neither powellite nor scheelite, but rather stolzite.  The analyses showed only lead and tungstate, with no calcium (scheelite) or molybdenum (powellite).  This is great news, as stolzite is a rare mineral not previously known from Darwin.  It is also interesting to note that the stolzite fluoresced two colors (scheelite blue and powellite green).  Do any of you fluorescent buffs have any experience with this or ideas as to an explanation? (Thanks John, for voicing the issue).  All of the pieces posted on the site have sold, but here is a link to an example of the pieces in case you are curious:  stolzite .  I do have a couple of extra pieces that did make the photographic cut, so feel free to contact me if you'd like one.

If you find yourself in the Reno/Lake Tahoe area, please come by and visit.  I am open most week days (and many weekends, too) unless I am traveling.  Be sure to call to arrange special appointments or to make sure I'm in town.

You can also find me at the following shows the latter half of 2007:

East Coast Gem, Mineral, and Fossil  Show August 10-12 West Springfield, Mass

Denver Gem and Mineral Show September 14-16 Denver Merchandise Mart, Denver, Colorado

I am always looking to purchase gold specimens from any locality, anywhere in the world.  If you have specimens you wish to sell, or trade against other pieces, please contact me!  I am especially interested in golds from unusual localities.  The same goes for mineral collections, large or small, all or part, thumbnail to large decorator pieces!  I will do my best to offer you a fair and competitive price for your collection.

On a personal note, I collect mining artifacts, especially candle sticks and oil lamps.  I'm always looking to add something new to the collection!  Let me know if you can help me out with any artifacts you'd like to sell.
